For the 1st time at undergraduate level in Australian universities, this unit offers great understanding of Bridge Engineering to learn about the procedures in conducting bridge design for some common bridge types using standards.Contents include: Bridge Types, Bridge Loading including principles of influence line diagrams, Bridge Deck Analysis, Design of Concrete Bridges including Prestressed Concrete, Design of Steel Bridges, Design of Composite Bridges, Bridge Articulation - Bearings and Expansion Joints, Introduction to Cable Supported Bridges.

The aim of this unit was to provide students an understanding of the role of the civil engineer within a major project, including the various technical activities undertaken, overall project management, and an understanding of the community's expectations. It will also develop team working skills.Project brief was about major upgrades of one of existing transport network in north of Brisbane. Structural students were asked to propose a comprehensive design of an overpass and civil/transport design, taking into account requirements of the project brief and relevant authorities.-Attended weekly lectorial and tutorial sessions-Prepared some of lecture slides-Assisted students in computer lab session for their design issues-Marking design reports

The aim of this unit is to provide students with in-depth knowledge of a range of topics within the field of concrete technology including constituent materials, and mixture proportions, properties of concrete and durability. In addition, it also provides students with knowledge on the properties of soils and structural steels. Fundamentals in the analysis of structures and machine members to determine direct, bending and shear stresses are also taught which aid students in their design.-Attended lab sessions to guide students to carry out relevant experiments. -Marking lab reports

As an engineer, you will need to understand the mechanics of structures through analysis for appropriate design of components and systems such as buildings and bridges. In this unit the principles learnt in the introductory unit of engineering mechanics will be developed to enhance your understanding of the methods of analysis of statically determinate and indeterminate structures and their response to loads. The topics taught include moment distribution, bending moment and shear force diagrams for structures using indeterminate analytical and computer methods, principle of virtual work and its application for deflection calculations, transformation of stresses, Mohr's circle, torsion, shear flow, shear centre, unsymmetrical bending, the principle of compatibility and combined loading of structural members.-Tutorial coordinator (total of seven tutors) -Attended weekly tutorial session for solving practical structural problems related to lecture slides-Organized walk-in sessions for students prior to assignments submission and final exam-Marking assignments and final exam papers
