I work as a middle school educator of mathematics at a Title I school in DeKalb County, Georgia, educating students to grow into independent learners. My passion for shaping young minds sparked after joining Jumpstart, an organization designed for college students to service low-income Head Start centers. The vision of Jumpstart is to provide educational opportunities to young disadvantaged children to break the cycle of poverty. Our goal included preparing underserved pre-school students with necessary social-emotional, literacy, and language skills before entering Kindergarten through partnered relationships. As a professional and graduate of Florida State University and Georgia Southern University, I understand the value of education and collaborating with others to learn and grow. In return, I am attracted to the idea that we must be part of the change we wish to see in the world by serving our communities.With 11 years of experience in education, I have cultivated my skills as a teacher leader through collaborating with colleagues and relevant stakeholders to improve the learning experience for students. I have a strong desire to grow professionally to help meet organizational goals locally and nationally. My dedication and passion for educating others has afforded me the opportunity to operate in leadership positions, such as New Educator Coaching and Math Department Chairperson. I am believer in the power of teams, healthy communication, and data analysis. These components of my career reflect the skills necessary for managing projects. Additionally, I am an advocate for taking on the role as student when appropriate. Growing personally and professionally is what I aim to achieve in this ever-changing world. I thoroughly enjoy learning how to integrate technology resources into my profession to develop meaningful learning experiences and to create efficiency in completing tasks. I also enjoy managing projects that matriculate from infancy into a successful product. My overall professional goal includes motivating, empowering, educating, collaborating, and contributing to organizational missions and values within independent and cross-functional teams. Currently, I am based in Atlanta, Georgia and have positively influenced the lives of middle school students of the Dekalb County School District for the past five years. I am confident that I will bring value to any corporation or organization I am affiliated within. Fun Fact: I am a Florida native who enjoys traveling, beach life, Caribbean culture, and good food.
