Passionate about high quality support services, I have built a career implementing best practice in care. Having worked in a variety of settings from residential, clinical, community, and inpatient care - I chose to devote my working life to making a difference for those living with a need for care or support. I founded LIFE training in April 2013 with the vision to improve services through high quality training and consultancy packages. I would design bespoke training for care organisations based upon identified need. I later gained a contract providing tutoring to higher education students with disabilities or mental ill-health, working within a number of universities across the Southwest. Throughout this period I also worked as a consultant and trainer for an assistive technology provider, where I would visit organisations to provide consultancy around adaptions for disabled staff.In 2015 I designed an accredited course as an introduction to care for the long-term unemployed, to be delivered at a local college. Later I was head-hunted for a position leading a City and Guilds training centre, designing and delivering a variety of care related courses including diplomas and apprenticeships levels 2-5.I decided to launch charity Valued lives in 2017, to provide a much needed service in Cornwall for those living with mental ill-health. Our mission is to support people through early intervention and early discharge to avoid hospitalisation, enabling them to live well at home. It is important to us to cherish not only the wellbeing of those in our care, but also those who work in our teams. We believe that empowered and supported care workers make for a better quality care provision.
