Started my own human-scale web and mobile development consultancy where I built websites and apps from end-to-end for mission-driven clients. I supported our awesome team of engineers and wrote code in Ruby/Ruby on Rails and Vue.js!- Encouraged the use of best practices, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning on the engineering team.- Lead projects from inception through deployment to maintenance with agile processes.- Built features alongside other engineers and in close collaboration with product team members.- Supported the growth and development of up to 7 engineers as their manager.- Hired and onboarded new engineers, including writing and conducting interviews, while continually working to improve the diversity of our team and along with the equity and inclusion of all our processes.- Planning and roadmapping (as well as code reviews) across multiple pods of engineers, product managers, and designers.- Created new engineering processes, facilitated team-wide meetings, and planned support shifts.- Contributed to performance improvements, monitoring improvements, SOC2 certification, and PEN testing.

In a half startup accelerator, half agency environment, I built dozens of web applications primarily using Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS, and Javascript.- Coded mobile-friendly web apps with responsive design.- Mentored junior developers, conducted code reviews, and collaborated closely with designers.- Stayed on the leading edge of Javascript frameworks, learning new ones as they were released: jQuery, Backbone.js, Meteor.js, Ember.js, Angular.js, React.js, Vue.js, Node.js.- Championed the use of living style guides and design systems, while exploring patterns from OOCSS, BEM, and ITCSS.- Built sites with requirements like: internationalization, meeting web accessibility standards, supporting visitors with reduced physical mobility, and/or requiring IE6 support.
