* This position requires hands on technical background, diversified technical and business experience and excellent management, organizational and communications skills.* It involves providing technical guidance to engineers and designers in developing sound conceptual, preliminary and detail design of third rail and Overhead Catenary systems.* The manager is responsible for hiring, training, mentoring and the professional development of his/her staff, building a diversified traction power group that can handle variety of traction power engineering projects including jobs that require proficiency in performing modeling, simulation and load flow studies; The manager arranges and facilitates training and development of the staff in all these areas. He/ she is responsible for work allocation and billability of the staff.* Besides technical responsibilities, the manager develops technical and cost proposals in response to RFPs, defends them to the management and clientele, develops design schedules, budgets and monitor costs to ensure timely and within budget performance. Also ensures compliance with clients QA/QC procedures and Safety in design and construction. Helps in preparing construction cost estimates, and provides design support during bidding and construction.

Reviewed and recommended modifications to the planned expansion under which WMATA will gradually phase out the existing 6-car and replace them with 8-cartrains at 2-minute headways throughout the system. Reviewed and suggested modifications to the existing maintenance procedures; reviewed standards and specs; reviewed and commented on the 95% design drawings on the planned extension of the WMATA system from Wiehle ave to the Dulles International Airport.

This was a 8 billion dollar project that involved new underground railroad construction between Long Island and Manhattan. It involved (15) facility power stations from 2MVA to 10MVA ratings and (8) Traction Power Stations 3MW to 12 MW range, with 750VDC Third Rail system. Estimated construction cost of the Traction Power portion of the project was about $150 Million.I joined the project around 40% level and progressed to 100% level in two years. I was responsible for supervising and coordinating the traction power and facility substations design. Was involved in preparing engineering effort budgets, recruiting staff, assisting in cost estimating and scheduling.

Was incharge of the Traction Power Group responsible for the preliminary engineering of phase 1 and 2 of the 23 miles long Dulles Corridor Rapid Transit Project. (estimated construction cost of the project: about $2.8 Billion)Supervised preparation of preliminary engineering design for this third rail traction power project over a period of about 4 years. The work involved integration with comunications and signal, structure, civil, mechanical and architectural and other disciplines and interaction with the Client WMATA and MWAA and the Utility.

Was manager of Systems Integration for Hudson Bergen Light Rail Project, MOS -2 segment of this $1.2 Billion project. This was an Overhead Contact System at 750VDC. Proper system coordination was assured between rail systems comprising of vehicle, tractwork, train control, communications, operation control systems, fare collection, administrative and management systems, traffic operation systems, stations, shelter shops, right -of-way, tunnels, guideway, shopm and yard. About 250 interface documents were prepared to ensure proper coordination during design and construction phases.
