Advaray (BrachyFoam d/b/a Advaray) was a medical device company founded to develop a new strategy for vaginal packing during cervical cancer brachytherapy. Developed BrachyGel, which was FDA cleared in August 2023. Acquired by CIVCO RT (now CQ Medical)My rock-star brother, Dr. Tim Showalter, was the Founder, President & CEO. Helping Tim set up his business and successfully exit was one of the most fun opportunities of my career.

• Active leader and participant in all business development activities, growing the company’s annual revenue from $3 million to $35 million by identifying opportunities, creating win-themes, forming teaming relationships, and coordinating the capture and proposal process• Established and led JHNA’s Huntsville office• Developed an expertise in digital engineering, MBSE, and MOSA by working with JHNA SMEs to draft multiple whitepapers• Successfully moved a 10-person team to a higher-margin contract vehicle, allowing JHNA to realize at least 15% profit• Created an intellectual property and data rights management capability by crafting the offering’s strategy, writing whitepapers, and pitching customers resulting in a successful engagement with a Fortune 100 technology company• Designated as the lead data rights subject matter expert for a modular open software architecture prototyping effort, ensuring all prototype data is properly allocated, protected, and re-usable for future efforts• Lead the capture, meeting with multiple customer leaders to ascertain hot button issues and reduce risk and coordinating with JHNA’s prime partner, resulting in the successful award of an approximately $300 million contract• Collaborated with JHNA’s chief architect, lead multiple customer engagements, and authored a white paper and statement of work for a novel “open architecture” prototype that resulted in a fully funded OTA award from PEO Aviation for at least $10 million with an unlimited ceiling based on successful performance• Active in the Redstone Arsenal community by participating in Leadership Huntsville’s flagship program and serving on multiple non-profit boards resulting in numerous strategic partnerships and marketing opportunities• Lead the successful acquisition and integration of a 70-person engineering services company in the Pax River market, giving JHNA new cybersecurity and program management capabilities

I represented emerging growth companies, start-ups, angel investors and venture capital funds in fund formation & initial equity, growth equity, and venture capital investments. I also represented private companies and private equity investors in domestic and cross-border transactions, and I regularly acted as an outside general counsel for private companies by helping with general corporate law matters, customer agreements, and the resolution of day-to-day legal issues.

I joined FedBid shortly after Revolution Growth's investment. While there, I managed the FedBid legal department’s daily operations and provided legal support to all areas of the company, including corporate policy development and implementation, intellectual property, commercial and government contract negotiations, contract performance and enforcement issues, dispute resolution and litigation management, conflicts of interest determinations and employment issues.

Worked with Cisco business units, sales teams and executives in developing go-to-market strategies for new/emerging business models.
