As a professional who has worked with the Law Commission and the Bar Council on trauma, vicarious trauma and its impact on the legal profession, I am a highly experienced practitioner, published author, public speaker and former university lecturer. For two decades, I have specialised in working with professionals in organisations exposed to high stress and / or exceptionally disturbing materials, helping them prevent and manage the severe consequences this can have.Having worked with over 1500 clients from professions including law, the military, the National Health Service, social work, education, and the hospice movement, my national-level policy advice is firmly grounded in the day-to-day realities faced by adversely affected professionals and the organisations they work for. Consequently, I can advise on perennial challenges, emerging trends, and both preventative and therapeutic approaches that yield the results.I also consult for organisations wishing to change their cultures to provide greater protection and more compassionate, effective support for those affected by their work. Adopting a multi-level and highly flexible approach, my services range from one-to-one therapy to creating organisation-wide support structures designed to increase staff well-being.
