Responsible for implementing the company HSE strategy at the Hamriyah Free Zone site and Dubai site. Ensuring compliance with local HSE regulations and developing the safety concept of the processes and activities on-site – including implementing standardized procedures, training, communication and developing safety KPIs. Responsible for the site start-up of the Dubai site – setting up licenses and permits for operations, commissioning of process equipment and developing operating procedures for the production process.

I was also responsible for setting SMART EHS targets, the Covid‐19 response and the Occupational Health program.- Zero LTIs (Lost time Injuries) since plant inception ‐ 11 years. Enabled by risk assessments (increased from 12to 43 for activities and 8 to 150 for hazardous materials), industrial hygiene assessments, continuousimprovement of work permit procedure (reducing faulty permits by 40%) and training.- Enacted measures for Safety Culture and Behaviour‐based Safety in a multi‐cultural workforce – tools for near miss reporting (2018), cross functional plant inspections (2019), safety culture surveys to find areas for improvement and site specific KPIs (2021).- Implemented digitalization tools for near miss reporting (increase by 20% in 3 years) and customer samples approval (reduced processing time from 10 days to 2 days and eliminated incomplete documentation).- Improved non‐conformance procedure – increasing non‐conformance reporting from an average of 20 (in 2017) to 50 (in 2020) per year, saving the company more than EUR 1 million in quality claims, with nonconformance investigation findings used to defend claims in court.- Successfully introduced a new generation of products, with no additional CapEx in 2018 (cost saving of EUR 0.5 million) ‐ by using existing resources, modified production and quality control procedures.

Assigned shift patterns and resources based on customer requirements. Addressed production problems, materials deficits, equipment failures and unplanned downtime.- Reduced production downtime by 30% between 2014 and 2016 – with process improvements in production, quality control, SAP operations, introduction of 5S program.- Successfully delivered USGBC LEED Green Building Certification (Silver) for the site in 2014. As the Project Manager, I was responsible for developing policies, implementing changes and liaising with 3rd parties to ensure the requirements for certification were met.- Developed the Occupational Health concept for the site based on site inspections by the local OH doctor, risk assessments, BASF and UAE regulations. Specific medical screening regimes were developed based on OH doctor recommendations and specific material hazards. This has resulted in zero Occupational Health diseases in the team.
