CurrentAs head of engineering, my role in the organization is quite diverseTech & Business decisions:I am responsible for the major tech decisions in the organization. Our choice of trusting in Microsoft right from RC1 of their ASP .Net Core announcement has yielded us a lot of benefits and our entire web stack is based on ASP .Net core — written on windows machines but running very well on Linux based servers. We've also moved entirely to Kotlin for all our Android applications and exclusively use PostgreSQL as our source of truth on all newer projects. Our recent move towards embracing the Mobile and Web platforms thoroughly has been one of the core pivots in the company's past. Allowing us to innovate and move faster than ever.Hiring & Mentorship:Finding better ways to hire and constantly mentoring the existing team mates forms a very big part of my day. I am a believer in letting people make their mistakes before gently nudging them toward a better path, that way they truly understand the problem and are able to better appreciate the solution when it presents itself to them. Our approach to training and mentorship has always been language agnostic so the focus is to create a good programmer at the base who is capable of picking and dropping technologies as required. Building the core framework: Every company's core is a work in progress. We're currently on the 4th iteration of getting our core programming (standards, reusable components, database handling, UI) perfected. The beauty of this is how different "perfect" looks. Sometimes its the most pragmatic approach we can take. And sometimes we pragmatism and idealism go hand in hand, and those times it gets really rewarding.Technologies (broadly) we work with: C#, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, SQLite, ASP .Net Core, Razor Pages, Windows Forms, jQuery, Bootstrap, Ansible, Bash, Kotlin
