I entered my academic pursuits with the objective of changing the world. The academic journey of self-discovery started with these unrealistic expectations, the inevitable disillusionment, the unfortunate cynicism, and finally a more realistic and cautious optimism. Over this time, I learned the importance of seeing law, policy, and governance as part of structural processes instead of independent, isolated fields. As, I transition my career into the field of public policy, which allows me to observe and participate in policy research and policy advocacy at the most intense level, I wish to demonstrate my integrated skills in law and policy and make some of my hard-earned cautious optimism a reality.
