My academic journey culminated in a PhD jointly from the University of Melbourne and the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. My doctoral research, titled “Flame-wall Interaction in the Presence of Intense Turbulence,” was conducted using direct numerical simulation of methane combustion using detailed chemical kinetics that significantly advanced combustion modelling and established a cost-effective approach to carbon monoxide emissions modelling. During my PhD, I had the privilege of instructing students as a tutor at the University of Melbourne in the following subjects: “Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics,” “Thermodynamics,” and “Advanced Thermodynamics.” This role allowed me to combine my research expertise with my passion for teaching, further strengtheningmy communication and presentation skills. Before starting my PhD, I was a project engineer at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISC) Bengaluru. During this time, I worked on the project “Reaction Zone Characterization of a Low Emission Reverse-Cross Flow Combustor.” There, I conducted laser-diagnostic methods, such as PIV and PLIF, alongside simultaneous measurements of emissions, which succeeded in developing a sustainable combustion chamber named Peripheral-Vortex Reverse Flow (PVRF) combustor. This experience fostered my practical approach to problem-solving and deepened my understanding of emissions control. Since September 2022, I have been involved in a project sponsored by the Future Fuels Cooperative Research Centre (FFCRC), titled “Addressing hydrogen blending issues: gas mixing, demixing, and hydrogen analysis.” Within this collaborative effort, we have made substantial progress in modelling mixing efficacy and developing a low-order hydrogen analysis method, delivering milestone reports with industry partners, such as AGIG, ATCO, and Jemena. These experiences have honed my teamwork and project management skills, aligning perfectly with the collaborative nature of a research team.
