About Shreyas Shankar
I am a Software Development Engineer with a passion for building innovative solutions and a strong foundation in software development.Currently, I am a part of the Microsoft India Azure Center for SAP Solutions Team, where I've been contributing to the development of enabling SAP workloads to run seamlessly on Azure. From its inception to achieving GA status, I've been involved in all aspects of the product, including Swagger-based API development, creating test suites, updating ARM templates, and ensuring end-to-end reliability. My journey at Microsoft began as an SDE Intern with the Azure Region Move Team, where I built graph-based visualizations for Azure resources within a Move collection. This involved everything from initial PM discussions and design finalization to creating a standalone PoC and integrating it into the Azure Ibiza portal experience. Prior to my time at Microsoft, I was an Honours Research Student at IIIT Research Lab - IREL, where I conducted research on detecting body shaming on Instagram using NLP as part of the Project Angel initiative. I also contributed to a NeurIPS workshop publication on "Using Selective Masking as a Bridge between Pre-training and Fine-tuning." During this time, I gained expertise in Python, PyTorch, and Transformers.With a strong foundation in software engineering and a track record of delivering impactful solutions, I am passionate about leveraging technology to drive innovation and solve complex challenges.

CurrentPursuing research at the Information Retrieval and Extraction Lab under Prof. Vasudeva Varma . As a part of the Project Angel initiative to combat harassment in social media, I have worked on detecting body shaming on Instagram, by creating data-sets and building classifiers to very high degrees of accuracy.Currently working on summarisation in the financial domain. As a team, we have built a scalable service using containerised development, that handles end-to-end processing from parsing PDFs to generating high quality summaries and tweets from the documents. I’ve built the summarisation module to produce high quality summaries with state of the art NLP techniques.
