Thesis topic: Automated Implementation of the Edinburgh Visual Gait Score (EVGS)Supervisors: Dr. Natalie Baddourl, Dr. Edward LemaireDuring my time as a research assistant at the Mobile Motion Lab, I worked on a specific project that aimed to make gait analysis accessible to all, regardless of their location.Our goal was to develop a system that could automatically detect foot events and strides while calculating EVGS from smartphone videos. Using OpenPose keypoints, I simplified the process of visual gait analysis, eliminating manual calculations.The result is a system that not only democratizes gait analysis for patients and caregivers using smartphone videos but also eases the workload for clinicians. Our system stands out for its ability to capture patient movements remotely, perform automatic EVGS calculations, and remove the need for specialized equipment.My role involved designing data collection strategies, developing algorithms for detecting foot events and strides, conducting literature reviews, and contributing to research papers.

During my internship, I contributed to various projects for the company.Initially, I served as a Visualization Engineer, where my focus was on creating dashboards using Tableau. These dashboards showcased historical data and were part of the company's retail store video analytics project, covering occupancy tracking, kezone coverage, heat map analysis, and customer journey insights.Later, I shifted to creating 3D scenes for the digital twin project using Unreal Engine. I developed multiple 3D scenes replicating the retail store environment.Subsequently, I worked on crafting 3D scenes in Nvidia Omniverse and integrating databases between Influx Database and Nvidia Omniverse for the workspace digital twin project funded by the Canadian government.
