As an engineer in Spitfire, my responsibilities were varied and encompassed almost all the technical work that was done by the team. • The team was a regular participant in the Indian Touring Car Championship, I was the Team’s race engineer.• Design and later operated a chassis dynamometer, including support structure and housing for the eddy current brakes which was used for engine tuning purposes for many of the competing teams in The Indian Touring Car championship (ITC), Indian Junior Touring Car championship (IJTC) and Formula 4 championship. • Turbo-charging and suspension modification of a Suzuki 4x4 for the Indian Army team in the Raid-de-Himalayas rally. • Design intake runners and exhaust manifolds to maximize air flow in and out of the engine. Apart from motorsports the other automotive projects that I was part of• Spitfire is the sole dealer for UNICHIP a piggyback ECU commonly used around the world to tune cars. I was deeply involved in the tuning of various vehicles like BMW 330i, Porsche Boxster, Mini Countryman and Mazda Mx5 amongst various others. • Addition of supercharger to a Suzuki 4x4 for road application, supercharger to a BMW 330i, turbocharger to a Honda City etc. I was involved in all of these projects from start to finish and did the engine tuning myself.• Our modifications were not restricted to the drive train alone, we installed after-market suspension for various cars. We dealt with HOTBITS suspension in India and have fitted our product to numerous vehicles like Nissan Trooper, X-Trail, Toyota Hilux, Skoda Superb etc. The stiffness of the spring and damping characteristics were decided by me.
