Managed activities of the Oncology Reverse Translation team responsible for the identification and validation of new targets, drug combinations and patient selection strategies. - Developed and implemented the strategy, operating principles, and decision-making framework to drive pre-clinical, clinical and disease area-focused research.- Directed, in partnership with scientific leads, the activities of 20+ projects across the oncology franchise and managed the resources for a 24+ team of lab-based and bioinformatics scientists to transition 8 targets/insights to the research and clinical teams. Primary area of research - Regulation of Adult Stem Cell fate and function- Discovered mechanisms by which adult stem cells choose cell fate: to remain as stem cells or give rise to tissue cells by regulating 1) their interaction with the supportive microenvironment, the stem cell niche2) cell intrinsic processes such as cell division, chromatin structure- Devised genetic, biochemical and imaging techniques to study regulation of adult stem cell fate using the Drosophila male germline as a model system.- Collaborated with Dr. O’Brien’s lab at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Stanford University to identify conserved and diverse mechanisms that regulate adult stem cell fates.
