Greetings! My name is Shriya Sachdeva (she/her) and I am a second year medical student at McGovern Medical School on the dual degree track (MD/MBA). I graduated from Texas Christian University in 2022 with minors in Sociology and Cultural Awareness in Healthcare, as well as a BS in Biology, Honors, Summa Cum Laude. I am a passionate mentor and currently run an Instagram account @urpremedbigsis to guide premed students through an accessible virtual platform. I also provide medical school application essay editing services through this account. I have former mentorship and teaching experience as well. I have worked as a tutor with over 50 students for over 8 years, both privately and through multiple college departments. I have served in various leadership positions within tutoring such as Administrator and Project Coordinator for Student Support Services at TCU. I also have experience being a teaching assistant for Biology 1 Lab, Biology 2 Lab, Biochemistry, and Genetics. I also served as a former MCAT Instructor with Kaplan. I have continued actively serving as a leader at my medical school and in my community, including serving as an officer for various organizations and founding/running our student ambassador’s Instagram account as our Public Relations lead. I am currently researching in the field of medical education as well. I enjoy meeting and learning from people and love connecting across difference. One of my favorite college experiences has been working as the Student Director of International Services at TCU throughout my college years. I am also heavily aligned with service. My favorite experience has been with American Red Cross, whom I have been with for going on 8 years. My first leadership position with them was as a Long Term Recovery intern at the Houston Headquarters post-Hurricane Harvey. I then served as a two-term President on the North Texas Youth Council and as an Advisor on the Youth Executive Board. I have enjoyed working with our youth, and believe that the greatest impact comes from working with them, since they are our future. In my free time, I enjoy singing, dancing, reading, and writing poetry. I am a self-published author on Amazon as well, so feel free to check out my work (“vernal blossoms”)! My favorite thing to do is to go to the park and feel the breeze against my skin and hair, since I feel connected with nature at these times. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. I hope to get the opportunity to to work with you in the future, and hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
