Having customer browse data is truly a big data problem as it continually grows and leads to challenges with modeling due to sparseness in the dataset. My internship focused on data reduction by using clustering techniques and finding predictive patterns in the browse data which could help find new and unique prospective customers for our clients. The findings from the project helped the company justify paying for the browse data. Clustering techniques used were K-means, Hierarchical Clustering and Dissimilarity Matrices for large sparse data. Also, utilized clustering visualization packages to display the clusters of browse categories more effectively.
