Strategies included the use of social media and contacting scholars to write opinion editorial pieces about UNHCR Canada to be submitted to major newspaper organizations. • Presented weekly statistics and reports of the media in terms of news coverage and social media of UNHCR within these media outlets in order to understand how to improve the communication strategy of UNHCR Canada.

The Commission deals with the status of Refugees coming into Canada and others spread across the globe. My tasks as a personal information assistant Intern included:• Conducting media research/ obtaining feedback on the performance of Canada Vis-à-Vis refugees and issues concerning their immigration and rights• Writing press releases covering Canada’s contribution and their position on different refugee programs extended across the country and the globe• Coordinating with organizations across the country to help organize the World Refugee Day Event held in June 2010• Speaking to as many people in order to increase awareness of refugees across Canada. The job required updating the UNHCR website, posting bi – monthly newsletters under the teacher’s reference section.Additionally, I undertook a project which involved a video interview of refugee artists Sweet Rush.
