At the end of 2020, I took a break from agency life, and became a freelancer. During that time, I took on a six-month course in digital marketing. My first foray into the world of professional writing. This was an exciting one, as I got to experience print publishing which fascinated me to no end during my PR days, and watch digital media take off. I was involved in planning, research, and writing. Hired as a web writer, I also got to try my hand at managing CMS platforms such as WordPress and Joomla. My job scope eventually extended to writing for print publications. It's cliched, but it's the truth – I've always wanted to be writer. Even back in school, my teachers were convinced that I'd grow up to be one. But as you may know, life doesn't always go the way you've planned. Long story short, I reconnected with my childhood dream, and decided to... become a writer. But I didn't have a portfolio. So, I did what I had to do. I sourced for opportunities anywhere I could. I combed the internet for any business I thought could do with some writing work done. I then approached the smaller companies, sometimes even offering my services for free. And I was gratified by the support I received; all of them always offered paid jobs! I'll never forget how they gave me a leg-up in my career when I didn't have much to offer.From September 2014 to April 2019, I worked for Web Company Magnetic Media, where I wrote articles on e-commerce, web development, mobile development, and all things pertaining to the intriguing world of digital marketing.
