To inform the platform’s development, my team conducted a mix of qualitative, quantitative, and intercept interviews with over 15 participants and facilitated five co-design workshops with more than 20 Gen Z participants. These sessions provided valuable insights into social media news consumption habits and helped us strengthen partnerships through mutual aid practices.Additionally, we established community partnerships with the News Literacy Project and the National Association for Media Literacy Education, enabling us to deepen our research insights and refine strategic recommendations for CNN. Usability testing with three families led to 100% adoption, validating the platform’s design and inspiring three new features to enhance the user experience on CNN Chat. -
