As a data scientist in the special projects department of Synergy, my role was to flesh out data driven innovations as a part of a company wide push towards digitisation. During my tenure I had the opportunity to develop recommendation systems, search systems & information retrieval tools. I also had the chance to make use of classical tools such and KNN and XGBoost to deliver models for email classification and pollution compliance respectively.

Developed KNN based email classification pipelines to identify critical email categories pertaining to ship status such as noon reports and vessel issues.Used named entity recognition methods to fine-tune extraction of key information such as time and port of arrival from the classified emails.

Researched as a group on code change classification and log message generation using vectorisation models. The primary focus was on LogGen, a model based on distributed representation of code changes and the nearest neighbours algorithm. Explored various facets in the LogGen pipeline pertaining to data construction, model building & model evaluation and proposed methods to improve upon the then state of the art log message generation models.
