Dr. Shuhana Shamsuddin is a former Professor of Urban Design at Razak School of Engineering and Advanced Technology, UTM Kuala Lumpur with more than 30 years experience of teaching urban design to the Architecture and Urban Planning students. She was once a guest lecturer at UNESCO Master Class Series on Sustainable Development, IIUM, UPM and UITM. She also sat as an Advisory Board of Studies panel for the Architecture and Masters program at IIUM, UITM and UKM and supervised PhD and Masters students for University of Nottingham, UK and Queensland University of Technology Australia respectively. She completed more than 30 research, published extensively internationally and engaged in urban design consultation works cum community service to the local authorities of several major cities in Malaysia. Among her notable works include Guidelines for Urban Image, by the Jabatan Perancangan Bandar dan Desa Persekutuan and the Urban Morphology for Melaka’s nomination to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. She once received the Royal Town Planning Institute, UK Prize for academic excellence, won several local and international urban design competitions as well as research awards. She was featured in a poster exhibition at the Pusat Sains Negara Malaysia as one of the distinctive Malaysian women scientists and featured as the iconic face of the exhibition ‘Female Faces in Sustainable Places: Malaysian Women Promoting Sustainable Development’ at Massachusets Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. She also sat as one of the Expert Group member of the City Prosperity Index by the United Nations for Human Settlement (UN HABITAT). Dr. Shuhana is the lead consultant for the Kuala Lumpur Heritage Trail Master Plan 2015-2020 for Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
