My Holistic Biophysics Research Program* is interested in leveraging objective, scientific methodologies to enhance our collective understanding of holistic healing practices. To that end, I am investigating the neural activity of various mental tasks/practices, including healing visualizations, motor imagery tasks, and mindfulness meditations to understand if the neural activity of each task can be characterized and differentiated. My current tools of choice include a 14 channel, wireless EEG headset( who knew we'd live in a world where that would even be possible?!), any and all reliable open source tools (hello Python!), and an endless supply of curiosity and fascination for understanding the capabilities of the human brain and body.*Not currently a registered company--rather, a long-term passion project producing real results.

Clinical Neurorehabilitation, Neurorecovery, and NeuroimagingSummary: Investigate effects of motor restorative therapies and develop real-time neurofeedback through game-based rehabilitation, consumer-based motion capture (Microsoft Kinect) and EEG recording. -Show feasibility of prediction motor restorative outcomes using artificial neural networks-Use electroencephalography (EEG) to capture brain activity from healthy participants-Extract unique, characterizing neural features of EEG signals using machine learning-Characterize movement patterns by calculating kinematic parameters-Develop custom MATLAB scripts to analyze kinematic data-Work with an interdisciplinary team including engineers, physical therapist, rehabilitation specialists, computer scientists to meet the goals of these projectsMotor Systems and Neurophysiology Summary: Investigate interactions between the motor cortex and the pontomedullary reticular formation in motor control of the upper limbs in non-human primates.-Collect single-unit neural signals during a bilateral reaching task-Analyze subcutaneous electromyography (EMG) data from upper limb muscles

As a member of the Student Instructional Leadership Team (SILT), I have acted as both project manager and "employee", and always as a team player to: -Develop, operationalize, and manage training of course content and grading practices utilizing in person and online platforms for 75-100 undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants (TAs) per semester. -Organize and run exam review sessions for nearly 1,500 students each semester.-Act as liaison between faculty and GTAs including: -->Attending weekly meetings with the Associate Chair of the EED -->Attending weekly faculty meetings and reporting pertinent information to all GTAs. -Plan and implement end of the year events for all TAs-Plan and implement onboarding of new TAs each fall semester-Lead weekly organizational SILT meetings
