Developed a computational system model within Modelica for a ceramic building envelope system with a fluid cavity, capable of modulating the thermal performance of the envelope and providing solar hot water to building services. Led a team of undergraduate researchers to complete computational fluid dynamics of a conjugate heat and fluid transfer model. Calibrated the computational system model with computational fluid dynamics and experimentally measured data. Co-simulated the computational system model with EnergyPlus by integrating the system as a dynamic building envelope and coupling the thermal fluid with critical building systems. Evaluated the energy and environmental impacts of the system using whole-building performance metrics.

Worked on climate analysis and building energy modeling with SOM Chicago's Sustainable Design and MEP groups to promote energy efficient architecture. Completed building energy models and parametric studies for high profile projects, using EnergyPlus and OpenStudio to provide recommendations based on predicted energy consumption. Ran daylighting simulations for LEED, studied daylighting technologies for illuminating deep floor plates, provided colleagues with solutions to daylighting simulation errors and checked quality of daylighting simulation results.
