Well, in a nutshell, I am a transaction lawyer focusing on M&A and finance deals, and I head the Transactions Practice at Marchenko Partners. I am experienced in acquisitions & disposals, joint ventures, and corporate restructurings. I work on sell and buy side, and represent domestic and international Clients. Speaking of my Clients, they include DP World, Subway, EnergoGroup, Phase One Karma, LafargeHolcim, Ecosoft Group, Klimasan, NBT, and Morgan Furniture. I have worked on some of the largest Ukrainian M&A deals in the recent years, such as US$700 mln sale of EnergoGroup’s coal business to Metinvest B.V. and certain other buyers, and acquisition by DP World of a controlling stake in TIS Container Terminal.I also do finance deals, with a focus on cross-border loans, debt restructurings, and innovative financial solutions (neobanks, FinTech, RegTech, blockchain and AI-based technologies, etc.). I have done a good many of trade finance transactions with the Clients representing conventional banking & finance industry. At the same time, I love helping groundbreaking Fintech companies implement their audacious business ideas. For finance work, my Clients include the Export-Import Bank of the United States, Citibank, Western NIS Enterprise Fund, Amsterdam Trade Bank, Gemcorp Commodities Trading, EnergoGroup, and East-West United Bank.Just like (probably) any other lawyer having 15+ years of intensive legal practice, I can boast of a plethora of acknowledgements I have been regularly receiving from reputable legal directories, such as The Legal 500, IFLR1000, Who’s Who Legal, and Ukrainian Law Firms. But what motivates me even more than the legal rankings and legal fees is the transaction work itself, with its challenges and victories, tense negotiations and synergistic teamwork, sleepless nights and celebrations of the deal closing. For me the transaction work is something like professional sport – where you reach success only if you are highly trained, have a well-knit team, and work flat out from start to finish.
