Tongpai is an upscale lifestyle Gen Z brand combining coliving and coworking and focused on building vibrant communities. We have opened five Tongpai hotels in Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, and Hangzhou and will open at least two more Tongpai hotels in 2023. New World Hotels is an upper upscale brand, and we will open three New World Hotels in 2023.- Built a team from zero to 35 and opened five hotels in three years despite COVID disruptions.- Adopted many innovations, including robots, AI call centers, associate APPs, and VR room tours. We also created exciting vibes through community programs such as dog yoga, paddle tennis, flag football, hip-hop dancing, and ultimate frisbee. - Created the new brand's vi, branding, design, standards, and SOP. We are operating leased and third-party management contracts, and in 2023 we will sign franchise agreements.- Formed a joint venture with Asia's leading OTA company Trip.com. Trip.com contributes its Renzen technology and its extensive access and resources.- Expanded the joint venture's mandate to develop the Tongpai and New World Hotel brands in China. We have created new brand standards for New World Hotel in China and signed eight hotel management contracts, opening 3 in 2023.- Updated Tongpai's design after two years and added a resort version, also targeting Gen Z. We are signing management contracts in urban and resort locations.

I set up Lincoln China's first office in China and built the team from a shared office to a fledging operation. I focused on midmarket cross-border M&A needs of Chinese SOEs and privately-owned companies. I helped SOEs acquire cross-border targets, helped Chinese entrepreneurs sell control to international private equity firms, and sold multiple European businesses inside and outside China to Shenzhen-listed and Shanghai-listed public companies.

Morgan Stanley Huaxin Securities (MSHX) was a joint venture between Morgan Stanley and Shanghai-based Huaxin Securities. We set up this JV after exiting from the CICC investment. As the deputy GM of the joint venture, I helped negotiate the JV agreement; applied for the JV license from Chinese financial market regulator CSRC; worked closely with JV board directors on the business plan and operating budget; and recruited and built the finance, HR, IT, and legal and compliance infrastructure.I was also head of the JV's investment banking department and built the investment banking team to 70+ bankers from zero within a year. The investment banking team was based in Shanghai and Beijing, and we completed a USD 1 billion secondary offering of Bank of Beijing within six months of its formation.

I was a member of Morgan Stanely's China Management Committee. I headed Morgan Stanley's Infrastructure Fund in China (first fund AUM was $ 4bln). The fund was my second startup experience in China. We looked at investments in China's railroads, container terminals, toll roads, and social infrastructures like education and healthcare. I executed many Nasdaq and Hong Kong IPOs and restructuring and cross-border M&A transactions with Chinese state-owned companies and entrepreneurial startups.

I raised Series C funding for the company and completed two acquisitions which positioned the company as one of the consolidators in China. The company became Pactera and is one of the leading IT sourcing companies in China.
