Initially as a volunteer, I was able to recover 90 percent of transgenic drought resistant potato plants, by fixing the irrigation system and managing temperature, I obtained a project involving large-scale micro-propagation of asparagus plants. I managed logistics of the project as a whole, performing feasibility analysis, growth rate projections, managing supply and data collection. The most significant contribution I have provided to this project included scouting and hiring a team of 5 student research assistants with little to no prior experience, I provided guidance and supervision within the laboratory to train them in research methods as well as making progress on the project itself.Maintaining teamwork, safety, and efficiency within my team as well as improving processes to solve problems have been my main focuses as a project coordinator and leader.

Through UCLA, I interned for the Pico Union Low Income Subsidized Housing Corporation over the summer after high school to help a low income community. Here I was in charge of many clerical responsibilities, which included updating and processing housing contracts, organizing data for current residents, safely filing documents containing sensitive tenant information, and receptionist duties, acting as a liaison between current or potential tenants, and administration. I also worked for the auditing department in software installations and minor PC troubleshooting. I backed up housing contracts in the computer, and typed out or updated contracts that only existed in paper copy or new contracts.

This was a campaign for Los Angeles District Council #13 which encompassed the Los Feliz, Silverlake, and Echo Park communities in central LA (which is not part of East LA as many confuse it for). Working directly with the candidate and key staff, my duties included phone banking to potential voters, informing them of how to vote and poll locations, and performing basic market research to identify the needs of our voters. I was in charge of creating strategy for ideal locations of campaign literature distribution based on demographics and organized packets for other volunteers to hand them out in a timely fashion.
