From 2017, I was assigned to technology management and automated testing was moved to a central team in US. I retained the support of ALM, managing upgrades of testing, development and analytical software used within Ford Credit Europe. My Technology management role required a lot of data analysis and reporting for upper management. I primarily use Alteryx for data analysis grabbing data from various systems to feed into lists for management updates in SharePoint.

Started as an automated tester using the Mercury (now Micro Focus) testing suites as well as manage Quality Center (now ALM) and PVCS. My role evolved over the years and incorporated managing the team’s request management system and providing support metrics up until the end of 2016. The most recent load testing project was for an eContracting project with highly aggressive timescales and challenges. The requirement was to test the performance and integration testing of mainstream applications and API service calls involving 9 applications and an external service provider.

Provided third level support to 1500 of its SCO UNIX sites including Unify database administration. As a team, we constantly aimed to reduce the number of problems by improving the systems for the level 1 and 2 support teams. Due to the systems not being millennium compliant, I played an integral role in migrating a large portion of the sites to Windows NT and making the remaining sites compliant.In September 1999, we introduced an intranet system for branches to access information from security centres online removing the need for constant status checks and faxes. I gained a lot of experience in testing, setting up test environments and using testing tools.

Administer this patent company’s NCR and Solaris servers while they were migrated over to SUN. This included restructuring data to be sent to its Japan based company and supporting the Linux workstations used by the developers.

Assigned to a service company in Brighton, I provided day-to-day systems management of their SCO UNIX system accessed via windows workstations running on a Novell token ring network. I was also seconded to manipulate data for a data-warehousing project integrating Chameleon 2000 and Service 3000 to improve the quality of the information available.

Installed and supported computerised EPOS systems and provided support to clients using their bespoke accounting software all of which ran on SCO Unix/Xenix, HP-UX and AIX platforms. For new clients, I provided pre-sales and post-sales support that included training, testing and ensuring the clients unique requirements were provided. Clients supported were primarily wholesalers and retailers.

Installed and supported all their EPOS systems that were linked to computerised systems running Unisolv on SCO Xenix platforms. Typical clients were wholesalers, retailers, off-licences, restaurants and pubs. I provided pre-sales and post-sales support including training, testing and ensuring the clients unique requirements were provided.

Managed the company’s newly created computer department that initially ran on a Pick platform using a financial package called KTS and Compusheet. I was then involved in migrating the systems to a SCO Xenix platform running SCO Office Portfolio and Chameleon.

Did my compulsory national service as a medic for the South African Defence Force where I gained a lot of leadership experience and finished as a Lance Corporal.

Trainee programmer on Commodore Business Machines using Basic but ended up combining this with support and training, as it was a very small business. Unfortunately, the company closed while I was called up for compulsory national service.

As a materials controller, I had to investigate all the discrepancies between the computerised stock figure and the actual stock figure. In doing this, I gained a lot of experience with computerised stock systems.

Main task was to capture all stock control documents onto the system leading me to be transferred to their sister company Rowen SA as a materials controller.
