About Shuvendu Das
I am an ecologist specializing in freshwater ecology, community ecology, systematics, biodiversity assessment, and conservation. I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Wildlife Science from the Wildlife Institute of India and have worked on research projects at various institutes in India for over nine years. My earlier research focused on understanding the patterns and determinants of species diversity in space and time and how they connect to conservation and management challenges, including climate change, habitat fragmentation, and anthropogenic pressure. I've worked with various species, including birds, dragonflies & damselflies (Odonates), butterflies, Geometrid moths, amphibians, and mammals. I am familiar with sampling procedures for estimating population parameters and studying their ecology. I have independently devised and carried out studies on specific ecological and conservation challenges, collaborating with the Forest Department and other government and non-government organizations. I've co-authored a book, four book chapters, and three peer-reviewed journal articles. Furthermore, I have been able to deliver papers at three international conferences and submit three scientific reports to various government bodies.
