I am a Hydrogeologist and groundwater modeller with nearly 20 years of postgraduate experience. I have conducted conceptualisation and development of groundwater flow and transport models across a range of scales from regional water resources models to small scale 1D analytical transport models. Modelling approaches include the use of MODFLOW, MT3D-MS and the finite element software FEFLOW, I also familiar with the use of PEST to aid model refinement and uncertainty analysis.I have experience of working on a number of large groundwater models, most recently on the development of conceptual understanding and associated regional groundwater model of the Brighton and Worthing Chalk aquifer, which has been developed in the state of the art package MODFLOW-USG. This will be the first of its kind in the country incorporating local grid refinement and discrete representation of abstraction wells, shafts and adits. The model is being developed with the specific purpose of assessing both managed and forced (i.e. climatic) changes to deployable output at abstraction wells. In addition to modelling, I have also been involved in aquifer characterisation, conceptual model development and data collation studies. Field studies include high resolution monitoring and analysis of responses to abstraction in the Brighton and Worthing Chalk, The Lower Greensand and the North Downs Chalk as part of low flow and NEP investigations. I was also lead author in developing the conceptual understanding of the Brighton and Worthing Chalk groundwater model.
