Nanoparticulate formulations for enhanced sonodynamic therapy (SDT)My PhD involves the formulation and characterisation of biodegradable nanoparticles and testing their effects in combination with ultrasound against pancreatic cancer in vitro and in vivo models. During my PhD I have learned and developed a magnitude of skills and also have vast experience in mentoring undergraduate students.

As a current ICURe participant, I am funded by Innovate UK and Cancer Research UK to undertake market discovery and commercially validate our technology StimOxyGen.StimOxyGen is a pH-responsive nanoparticle formulation that accumulates in solid tumours and generates oxygen in situ. We have shown that by providing oxygen within the tumour site, we can significantly improve the efficacy of photodynamic therapy and sonodynamic therapy, both of which rely on a source of oxygen for maximum therapeutic efficacy. This has also led us to envisage other applications of StimOxyGen as an adjuvant to radiotherapy and some chemotherapeutic agents that rely on oxygen to perform better.Ultimately StimOxyGen will maximise response and improve patient outcomes.We are reaching out to pharmaceutical industry, expert oncologists and radiotherapists, regulatory boards, expert academics in the field to gain feedback and advice on our technology and determine if there could be potential collaboration to take StimOxyGen to the clinic and make a difference to cancer patients across the globe.Please contact me for more information.

• Provide ward cover within a variety of specialities• Clinically check prescriptions and provide suggestions where necessary• Interpret patient blood results and their impact on medication choice and dosage• Supervise and approve aseptically prepared medicinal products, including chemotherapy and total parenteral nutrition, in accordance with good manufacturing practice, standard operating procedures and NHS recommendations• Communicate sympathetically and supportively with patients• Counsel patients on usage of their medication• Communicate ideas, issues, suggestions to other healthcare professionals• Deliver teaching sessions to other healthcare professionals• Demonstrate pharmacy practice to pre-registration pharmacists and pharmacy students• Engage in training sessions with pharmacy student technicians and pre-registration pharmacists• Complete regular audits within the hospital setting• Attend pharmacy conferences to aid learning and keep up to date with pharmacy practice• Meet the requirements of CPD as expected by the General Pharmaceutical Council including keeping up to date with translational aspects associated with impacts of research on pharmacy practice

• Accurately dispense medication according to prescriptions• Check prescriptions for errors and ensure they are appropriate for patients• Counsel patients on how to use medications, possible side effects and storage requirements• Communicate and work closely with other healthcare professionals• Answer queries from patients and staff regarding medicines• Undertake an audit project as part of a pre-registration training competency• Attend regular tutorials and regional training courses to aid learning
