Silvana Andrade has a career spanning nearly 40 years in journalism and communications, culminating in 2008 with the founding of ANDA (Animal Rights News Agency), the world's first news agency dedicated to animal rights. The organization was honored with the "Salva de Prata," the highest commendation granted by the city of São Paulo to an institution. This non-governmental organization focuses primarily on producing and distributing news related to animal and nature rights, as well as pursuing legal actions in their defense. Its work has directly influenced the formulation of laws and public policies in Brazil, providing consultancy to members of the National Congress, State Legislative Assemblies, and City Councils.Silvana is a speaker at various legislative forums and conferences, having presented at Universities, the National Congress, State Legislative Houses, City Councils, and the Public Prosecutor's Office, as well as at international conferences in cities such as Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Toronto, Luxembourg, and Oxford. She is the editor of two books on animal rights and is frequently invited to discuss the topic in major media outlets.She serves as a specialist member of the Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition of the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and acts as an ad-hoc advisor to UNESCO-SOST in Brazil, linked to the Sustainability Front of the UNESCO Chair at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona. In 2019, she was one of five women worldwide honored on International Women's Day by Horyou, an organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Among the various accolades she has received, the International "World Compassion Award" stands out, granted for her work on behalf of animals and the planet, an honor also bestowed upon Dr. Zilda Arns.Silvana is also a member of Diversitas — the Center for the Study of Diversities, Intolerances, and Conflicts at the University of São Paulo (USP) — and the National Network to Combat Disinformation (RNCD), composed of researchers from Brazilian universities.
