In 2017 I volunteered with HerSpace, a feminist non-profit organisation which provides trauma informed mental health care for women and girls who self-identify as being affected by sexual exploitation. In my role as Research Officer, I was responsible for research tasks supporting HerSpace programs as well as developing their policy and advocacy, plus any related administrative tasks. I also conducted the monitoring and evaluation of HerSpace’s programs for our philanthropic donors’ evaluation reports.

Helped coordinate the planning and organisation of Jesuit Social Services’ third National Justice Symposium. This included the event coordination for a lecture with international keynote speaker, attended by approximately 100 guests and the all-day Symposium with approximately 150 guests. I helped ensure the smooth and successful operation of both the Symposium and related events, and was congratulated by senior management and the CEO for my efforts.

As part of my Honours studies, I completed an internship at Jesuit Social Services, where I was placed in their Policy and Advocacy team. In this role I assisted the Policy and Advocacy team in a variety of tasks, including blog writing, policy briefings and research. For my key internship project while at Jesuit Social Services, I lead the research and writing effort for a major publication examining the state of the justice system in Australia, collating and analysing data across numerous jurisdictions and measures. This publication, titled States of Justice: Criminal justice trends across Australia was the first of its kind, with the organisation hoping to publish annual updates. States of Justice became a key advocacy piece for Jesuit Social Services, particularly in their calls for more effective strategies for crime prevention in Australia.
