I oversaw the growth and direction of our technology, the data practice, teams, and products across complex areas such as risk, document understanding, information extraction, and entity resolution. In my tenure with Cytora, my teams delivered:> An enterprise-scale machine learning system, engineered to be both robust and agile. It processes half a million documents annually, runs dozens of SOTA deep learning models, and allows our teams to do multiple deployments per week safely. > An entity search engine (150+ million entities in 7 regions), incorporating large language models for query preprocessing, and machine learning for reranking results to adapt to changing contexts.> A data platform that supports fully automated data pipelines that ingest and process terabyte-scale external data on a weekly basis with tritemporal storage> Multiple (incl. geospatial) insurance risk and other complex data productsOur data-centric risk operations platform is now used by the world's largest global commercial insurers as part of their core digital strategy.

Founded a geospatial insights company that uses large geospatial data, machine learning and UX innovation to provide actionable insights in a B2C context. Leading product and technology across multiple projects, including:> A risk management and visualization system for public authorities that pulls data from sensors, satellite (MODIS / VIIRS / Sentinel), climate (ERA5) and public systems, to provide a full view over natural catastrophe risk and events in an area> A highly innovative property listings platform stitching together dozens of disparate geospatial data sources to provide a unique degree of transparency around property location and investment quality

Helped establish one of Germany’s first full-stack digital neo-insurance companies, fully licensed by BaFin (German financial regulator). As part of the technology executive, my job was to reimagine what an insurance company looks like from a data schema perspective - i.e. what is the data we record and how do we organize data flows to enable maximum automation. Had an impact on our strategy, architecture, products, operations, teams and systems around data to deliver advancements in CX, product agility, risk and ops, particularly focused on embedded and automated insurance.

As Senior Vice President for Data Science at Kreditech, I led all scientific, technology development, and innovation work that helped us measure and proactively manage credit risk. In my tenure at the company, the technology my team and I developed was established as one of the world's most advanced credit risk comprehension and measurement systems. It demonstrated that big data coupled with AI can be a technologically and economically viable and scalable solution to information-driven credit rationing with the potential to transform economies. Our mission was suppored by investors of the calibre of Peter Thiel, Rakuten, and the IFC.

As Vice President and Head of R&D at Kreditech, I was responsible for the innovation process driving our already industry leading credit scoring and asset allocation engines. My team developed new scoring algorithms, performed fundamental research in machine learning, and leveraged insights to rapidly produce high-impact prototypes that transform the way we work.

Coinvented the Kreditech big data scoring engine; codeveloped the end-to-end production system.

Performed original research in the field of economic sociology (risk and diversification through contingent claim assets akin to real options) and econometric modeling, specifically mixture and multilevel modeling, as well as interacting multi-event histories in a discrete-time latent variable framework.

Participated in and carried out research projects in the field of education and further training. Complex statistical and data analysis, original theoretical research, survey and study design, policy analysis, benchmarking, evaluation, design and consultancy.
