- monitoring labour from first stage till fourth stage- conduct deliveries in a sterile manner- prepare patients for caesarean section and receive newborns from theater,- Postpartum care, giving the pregnant woman prophylaxis for purposes of PMTCT and the newborn, help the mother initiate breastfeeding plus educating on breastfeeding, education on family planning, cord care.- Management of abnormalities in pregnancy, delivery and post delivery: pre eclampsia and eclampsia, resuscitation of the newborn, management of premature babies.- Administrative work as senior nurse like making duty schedule, conduct ward staff development lectures, ordering of equipment and drugs.
