Manage the operation of the North Carolina Center for Engineering Technologies to include the identification of engineering related baccalaureate degrees and solicit university delivery of those programs. Also, to interface with regional industries and provide engineering related services to support product development and innovation.

The North Carolina Center for Engineering Technologies provides facilities for applied research in engineering related fields and serves as a conduit to baccalaureate education delivered by the University of North Carolina system schools. Owned and operated by Appalachian State University, the facilty is located in Hickory, NC.

Chair and Professor, Department of Technology (2004-2007)Provide leadership for approximately 35 full time and 20 part time faculty and staff in the delivery of 9 bachelor degree programs and two masters programs.

Provide leadership for approximately 50 faculty and staff in the delivery of three bachelor degree programs, 20 associate degree programs, 14 technical certificate programs and 26 certificate of proficiency programs. Coordinate the delivery of six master’s degrees and three bachelor’s degrees by other state institutions through the University Center at UA.

Coordinate the delivery of six bachelor’s degrees and seven master’s degrees through the University Center at Westark. Facilitated curriculum teams in the development of certificates, Associate and Bachelor’s degrees. Coordinated a three-year NCA accreditation process for this unique baccalaureate degree. Planned the design and coordinated construction.

Designed and developed the first community college sponsored baccalaureate degree in the United States. The degree was an innovative, competency-based manufacturing technology baccalaureate degree that was delivered through self and team-paced instructional modules that were based upon employer identified outcomes. The competency development teams included.

Managed academic division with CAD, Electronics, Machine Tool, Automotive, Industrial Maintenance and Welding degree programs. Promoted to Associate VP.

Led faculty in the redesign of curriculum based on an extensive assessment of Kansas industry needs resulting in an upper-division two-year baccalaureate program. Established formalized articulation agreements with community colleges to support the emphasis on Industrial Technology and the degree change from a bachelor of arts to a bachelor of science..
