Sid Hancock is a management accounting consultant and writer for the health care industry. His areas of interest include managed care reform and redesign strategy and competition, integrated delivery systems (IDS's), and Decision Support Systems (DSS) application development.Sid's academic background includes an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a B.A. in economics and literature from Northwestern University. He earned his CPA certificate with Ernst & Young in San Francisco and the CMA certificate of the Institute of Management Accountants. He also taught management accounting at San Francisco State University (SFSU) College of Business as a management accounting faculty member in 2002-03.His professional career began as an auditor with Ernst & Young in San Francisco. Following that, he became a Marketing Support Systems Engineer with the IBM Company in its San Francisco insurance industry branch office. Following six years with Kaiser Permanente Health Plan in Oakland as a systems analyst, he returned to public accounting as a Management Advisory Services Manager for the San Francisco office of Main, Hurdman, and Cranstoun, Here he consulted with health care providers and entrepreneurs of various stripes.Sid worked with Kaiser Permanente altogether for twelve years in three different stints, in various medical center, clinic, and health plan systems analyst capacities. His industry knowledge and commitment result to a significant degree from that managed care experience.Sid leads an active life, and is an accomplished choral singer and a golf enthusiast. He sings with the Montclair Presbyterian Church choir . His two sons were raised in the Oakland Hills in Montclair.
