Hi, I’m Sid Kotian, a comic artist who’s so obsessed with sequential storytelling that I might as well have it tattooed on my forehead. For over a decade, I’ve been elbow-deep in every genre imaginable, and when I’m not drawing, I’m figuring out how to draw even better. Yeah, I’m that guy who can’t get enough of comics!No formal training here—just a whole lot of self-taught persistence. It’s a little ironic that the same educational institutions that once rejected me now invite me to guest lecture. And it’s pretty humbling when someone new asks for advice. Who knew that rejection could turn into a guest spot?I was born with juvenile cataracts, which meant I couldn’t see what I was drawing till my early 20’s. Imagine trying to sculpt with your eyes closed! Despite this, I kept at it. Eventually, my vision was corrected, and after overcoming years of rejection, anxiety, and my personal “not good enough” playlist, I built a career working from home. I’m not super proud of being a recluse—I really do enjoy meeting fans.In 2013, I adapted J. Michael Straczynski’s radio script Apocalypse Al into a comic series and worked with him for two years. Then I jumped to WEBTOONs in 2016, collaborating with actress Beth Behrs and musician Matt Doyle. By 2019, I was writing and drawing my own sci-fi ecological graphic novel, Beneath an Alien Sky. In 2021, I joined Marvel to work on the Gambit miniseries with the legendary Chris Claremont, who described me as “a marvel”—not just in the punny sense. He said I was one of the best he’s worked with this millennium, and that my work could keep you on the edge of your seat while also breaking your heart. That’s the kind of feedback that gets burned into your memory!I’ve also illustrated Unforgiven with Tim Seeley and Elektra 100 with Ann Nocenti. In 2023, I teamed up with superstar writer Ram V on a short DC project and worked on a local indie comic called Forbidden Verse, which reignited my love for fantasy comics.These days, I’m diving into all sorts of new projects—superheroes, fantasy, sci-fi—you name it.
