Setting up and managing a pop up record store in Dalston. Managing a team of 4 to run events including DJ sets, live performances and talks.

Within this job I am responsible for buying stock for Rough Trade's two stores in London as well as Nottingham, Bristol and exporting to New York. I have also been buying for large festivals across this summer including Womad, Green Man and End Of The Road. Having to work to budgets and deadlines with various people around the world in order to ensure correct stock is effectively allocated. I also have to monitor how current stock is performing and keep an eye on global trends in the market in order to boost sales. I liaise with the events manager to order stock needed for various live events we have across our stores. Working with our mail order department to ensure online sales can be allocated effectively without any detramental effect on the shop floor. Planning, organising and undertaking marketing campaigns for releases and events including advertising campaigns, adverts and online content such as radio interviews and social media posts.

This included importing stock from across the world and distributing it effectively between our 4 shops in the UK and 1 in Brooklyn, NY. I also had to lead marketing campaigns for releases, merchandise large areas of the shop dedicated to these releases and promote sales online via radio shows and social media output.

Supervising Europes largest independent music retailer my roles included opening and closing the shop, cashing up, visual merchandising, working with the events manager and artists to successfully run live events, DJ sets, film screenings etc with world famous acts to promote certain releases and managing a large team. Setting up and running large shops at festivals such as Primavera Sound and End Of The Road.

During this time I have been responsible at various points for almost every aspect of the daily workings in the shop. Processing, merchandising and selling stock of all formats and genres as well as online content and admin work, customer service, working with bands and artists during events etc.
