Interaction with internal departments and external partner companies to ensure that contracted levels of engine performance (in terms of thrust, fuel consumption and transient operability) were maintained at all times and under all operating conditions. Focus on military powerplants: EJ200, Adour, RB199 and TP400 engines. Tasks included test bed data trending & test bed certification, generating bespoke engine thermodynamic models from first principles (compressor and combustion chamber behaviour during surge events, shaft-break scenarios, etc.), development test support (test bed modifications, changing logic of control system to achieve desired outcomes, emissions & thermal paint test support, etc.)... Participated in the upkeep and expansion of a complex Matlab Simulink aircraft/engine model (inc. version control, writing/running logic tests, results reporting etc.).

This involved agreeing on production equivalence requirements (interface between Design, Stress and Manufacturing teams), collating the necessary vibration / flow test costs & schedules, participating in the preparation of the relevant process approval documentation, etc.Technical work package owner associated with customer support initiatives and the resolution of in-service issues. Revision of maintenance limits following engine strip & inspection. This required close liaison with technical / business teams in order to define project plans, seek funding and commitment from the relevant stakeholders and ultimately drive a cross-functional team to completion.Day-to-day liaison with functional specialists (Stress, Fluid Systems, Aerothermal, Materials, …) and with several other functions within the business (Manufacturing, Repair and Service Engineering, Project teams, …).

Priced new engine maintenance contracts and reviewed the performance of existing ones, valued up to £XXXM and delivered over up to 10 years for a number of customers (UK Ministry of Defence, US Navy, etc.). Participated in cost reduction activities via involvement in Value Management & Fleet Management initiatives. Owned and delivered a number of work packages in several projects which involved regular liaison with a number of external auditors, consultants and customers (US Navy, MoD, CAAS, KPMG, ATOS, McKinsey, etc.). Generated and reviewed life cycle cost models using various software packages (Witness, VBA, Excel, @RISK, Anylogic): this included reliability data analysis interacting with Life Cycle Engineering, implementation of bespoke models for specific customers and risk management (economic risk, estimating risk, programme risk, etc.). I also defined end-user requirements and completed various tasks for the early verification & validation phase of state-of-the-art life cycle cost software developed following Agile methodologies.
