Sid graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1976 with a BSc in Civil Engineering, and in 1998 completed an Executive Management Diploma at the UCT Graduate School of Business.After two years involved in road and airfield construction in Namibia, he progressed to construction of sewage and water treatment plants initially in Kimberley and later in Cape Town. In 1980 he joined Consulting Engineers initially in Cape Town and later in Durban which spanned most of his career until his semi-retirement in 2018. As a registered Professional Engineer with over 40 years experience, he is able to offer mentoring and coaching skills as well as project and programme management to the civil infrastructure sector.Having served for over 25 years on the Board of Bosch Holdings (Pty) Ltd and its predecessors he also well placed for a non executive director role.He specialised in water sector engineering and project management at Bosch and Associates, where he was promoted to Water Sector Divisional Head in 1989, and became a Director in1992.In 1995 he was appointed MD of Bosch & Associates and joined the Bosch Holdings Board.He played a central role in the merger of the group's regional infrastructure project companies to form Bosch Stemele (formally Stemele Bosch Africa).In 2001 Sid assumed the National Operations Director executive position responsible for all regional operations in SA with a staff compliment of between 160 and 200 people in 5 offices, a position he held until 2015, when he moved to Business Development Director in Bosch Holdings responsible for directing the group's business development and strategic partnerships in Sub Saharan Africa.He led Bosch Stemele's quality management systems initiatives which resulted in ISO 9001/2000 certification in 2005, and subsequently ISO 9001/2008 and ISO 9001/2015 certification.Since July 2018 he has remained active as an independent consultant. He is a past chairman of the Durban Branch of SAICE, a fellow of SAICE as well as a fellow of WISA.
