For more than twenty years, Sid Wilson has been exploring the West, and sharing his adventures and discoveries by arranging group tours that take people places they have never been before. Much like his mentor, James P. Beckwourth, Sid is a scout and guide bringing people into new territory, only in this case, Sid brings diverse groups of convention delegates, family reunions, school classes, and church groups into the joys of history and the outdoors, leading them on adventures that range from river rafting, skiing and hiking to exploring old gold towns and riding narrow gauge railroads. His company, A Private Guide, has become one of the largest and most respected tour companies in Colorado, and Sid is today an important fixture in Denver’s tourism industry, currently serving on the boards of VISIT DENVER, the Denver Zoo, the Aurora Plains Conversancy and the Denver Public Library, while having served in the past as chair or a board member of the Black American West Museum, Historic Denver, the Colorado Historical Society, Denver Travel & Tourism Academy, and the James P. Beckwourth Mountain Club (aka Beckwourth Outdoors).Sid Wilson’s contributions to the tourism industry have not gone unnoticed. The Denver & Colorado Travel Industry Hall of Fame was created to recognize the outstanding individuals who through their leadership, dedication and professionalism have made significant contributions to the travel industry in Denver and Colorado, and in 2013 inducted Sid Wilson and A Private Guide, Inc. into The Denver & Colorado Travel Hall of Fame
