For the purpose of automated drilling, it is essential to understand the drilling parameters and their correlation with the environment.In this project work, the drilling mechanics was studied and the modelling of the drilling process was attempted, considering the requirements of future planetary drilling missions. The objective is to predict the torque and power output requirements, which will serve as the foundation for designing an automated drilling system. Determining these parameters is critical for selecting the appropriate driving system/mechanism, ultimately contributing to the success of future planetary exploration missions. Show less
