I'm an ecologist, entrepreneur, community organizer, educator, parent and data scientist, currently based in Bengaluru, India. I believe in education and entrepreneurship as a practise of freedom. I am excited by projects that break down silos, engage with a complex world and bring people together to work towards a more equitable and sustainable world. I work with Swissnex in India, a part of the Swiss consulate focused on enabling collaborations in research and innovation between India and Switzerland. Our current themes of focus are health, sustainability and digital transformation. It is a great place to put my skills of community organizing and interdisciplinary learning into forging exciting partnerships.I am a part of the core team of Sampoorna Ahara, a social enterprise cooking and delivering health promoting food all over the city of Bengaluru and India. I have used my skills in programming and data to set up, innovate and maintain the logistics of this company since 2019. We are also running a food donation program to provide mid-day meals to a school for children of migrant workers.I was part of the team setting up Atria University - a new university focused on enabling students to 'learn how to learn'. I enjoyed creating the core curriculum and pedagogy of the first year of the undergraduate program, while also enabling institution building. I have moved to a visiting role since 2022.I have a PhD in Ecology from the University of Minnesota in 2020, with a graduate minor in Development Studies and Social Change. From an educational background of biology, mathematics, ecology and statistics, I've explored learning and doing in feminist studies, history of science and science education. I strongly believe that education is the practice of freedom, and want to make science education a part of raising a critical consciousness in society, one that will enable us to transformatively engage with the intersecting crises our world is facing.I have significant experience as a facilitator and community organizer around issues of environmental justice, culture and teaching.
