Pursuit of a Radical Rhapsody: Large-scale residential development in Bangalore with varied typologies of high-rise apartments & earth-sheltered villas flanking a large green space. 2. A Saucerful of Secrets:Pet-friendly resort situated nestled within a valley in Ooty. With its one-of-a-kind design, the accommodations are scattered across the valley and are tucked into the earth. The central building, which doubles as the main building comprising hospitality and administrative spaces resembles a saucer floating gently above the ground. 3. Time: An early project, the materials and detailing used here have set the design language for the large-scale projects that were to come. As with any building, some of its components required refurbishment. 4. Think Design:An annual event by Total Environment to showcase their designs, projects, and capability lines. We had a very interesting exhibition area, parametric in design, and shaped like a flat spiral covered in green, providing a very indulgent kinesthetic experience. This event brought prospective homeowners to interact directly with the architects including myself. To list down a few, the aspects I was involved with are:1. Design development,2. Design details3. Both traditional wisdom and innovation were employed for this purpose, and the materials sourced from a very old building were combined with contemporary materials through ingenious detailing. The resultant visual expression was neo-traditional.Aspects handled:• Conceptualisation of design and preparation of working drawings, GFCs, and bill of quantities• Site supervision and coordination with material contractors• Innovative details: A pitched roof was designed using a sleek steel truss, SCIP panels, and hundred-year-old country tiles.
