Hi! My name is Siddhi Patel. I am a current Master's in Biomedical Sciences Student at Vanderbilt University and am a Graduate Research Assistant at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. I have a Bachelor's in Biochemistry (concentration in Cellular & Molecular Biology) and Hispanic Studies, with a background in Public Health from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I have learned so much and have grown in numerous ways over the past couple of years; as a student, a person, an applicant, a leader, a co-worker, and so much more. My field/specialty interest in medicine and research reside in genomics, surgical oncology/medical oncology, and interventional cardiology/pediatric cardiology. I withhold a passion for medicine and specifically, a passion in observing various genomic and/or environmental effects that may lead to different types of cancer and other diseases. My current research position investigates breast cancer, the second leading cause of cancer death in women. This experience will allow me to gain further knowledge in the treatments of cancer and the mechanisms of the cancer itself. I am ecstatic for these experiences and all that I will learn from them as I aspire to be a medical doctor.
