About Siddhi Pitkar
Problem solving through creativity and innovation is a place where I am able to apply myself most satisfactorily. So, I like to get stuck into a problem, and "think, make, break, repeat" until I am able to arrive at an optimized solution. This design thinking approach coupled with my meticulousness and discipline help me as a New Product Development Engineer in the Medical Devices Industry. I was always fascinated by design, by products that consider forms and shapes which emphasize that human connection. In a world full of interfaces - digital and physical - making anatomically good devices is something I aim for. Financial feasibility, machining capability and optimizing the device to what is possible, while always pushing the envelope is what helps me sleep at night and wake up in the morning. Of course, being in an industry where it is imperative to follow regulation (among a few) has also made me more aware of how to appraise various inputs that go into making a product. My rationale for what I do comes from the hope that someday we will be able to make quality medical devices affordable and available to all those who need it. When I'm not working, I enjoy learning about new technologies, understanding the world around us through longread articles and documentaries, reading anything I can lay my hands on (I favour realist fiction), enjoying and exploring food, cooking and hosting, playing board games, and making doodles and scribbling ideas of potential large canvases that I will paint when acrylic-on-canvas stops being so messy.
