Working at the Collingham Inpatient Service - a national tier 4 CAMHS psychiatric ward for children aged 6 -12. This role involves me working closely with young people presenting with mental health conditions involving but not limited to challenging cases of ASD, OCD, LD, Psychosis, Suicidal Ideation, Self-Harm, Eating Disorders, ARFID etc. Young people can be looked after children (LAC), child in need (CIN) or have safeguarding concerns at home/community requiring personalised care and approach in dealing with sensitive topics. I have been involved in independently designing child friendly care plans, drafting ward-round summaries for the young people, designing and updating patient nursing care plans, updating risk assessments, having 1:1 key work sessions with the young people exploring topics which have been a known difficulty in their past and how can the team help them navigate their way amidst all these challenging thoughts.

- Responsible for early qualitative detection of HIV-1 using nucleic acid extraction via Cepheid GeneXpert within 90 minutes.- Detecting the presence of MRSA in culture swabs using PCR via Cepheid GeneXpert within 90 minutes. - Testing for Chlamydia/Gonorrhoea in urine and rectal/throat RT-PCR swabs via the Cepheid GeneXpert Infinity 80 system.- Calibrating and fixing any errors associated with Cepheid GeneXpert Infinity 80 system. - Rapid Data entry of patient's demographics and testing onto Winpath systems.- Receipt of specimens, sample identification, assessment of suitability of samples and investigation of incorrect sample type sent or mislabelled/unlabelled samples. - Competent in reception of 24 hour urine samples for certain test requests. - Preparation of frozen samples for tests which have been packed in dry ice using special handling procedures.- Preparing specimens, tissue, bodily fluid samples, and other matter for analysis using standard laboratory techniques.- Centrifugation and aliquoting of blood samples to separate serum/plasma and red cells.- Identifying and dispatching samples to TDL referral laboratories for certain test requests. - Processing urgent samples with accuracy and speed within 30 minutes of sample receipt to maintain laboratory turnaround times.- Excellent email and phone etiquette when dealing with requests for further information regarding ongoing patient investigations.- Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times during sample processing.

I was a full-time postgraduate student studying towards my Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences (Clinical Biochemistry) at Middlesex University London. I graduated in November 2022 with a distinction. I was the Student Voice Leader (SVL) for my cohort.

I worked on the research dissertation topic "Effect of Hypoxic Conditions on Protein Expression in Trophoblast Cell Line" with my research supervisor Professor Ajit Shah towards the partial fulfillment of my Master's degree in Biomedical Science (Clinical Biochemistry) at Middlesex University London.We looked at the impact of hypoxic conditions on the phenotype of fetal cells thereby exploring how hypoxia effects the fetus at different stages of the pregnancy.
