Sidney Johnson helps clients and employers communicate effectively through traditional and digital media. She currently serves as the Communications Director for Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) and the Communications Director for the Congressional Black Associates, a historic staff association on Capitol Hill. She previously served as the Press Secretary for the Office of Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05).Prior to joining Team Hayes, Sidney worked as a press assistant to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's national press team and for the Senate Democratic Caucus. In early 2021, Sidney joined S-3 Group, a premier lobbying and public affairs firm in Washington, D.C. Throughout her time on their team she supported clients such as the Drum Major Institute, Martin Luther King III and Arndrea Waters King, Micron, First Five Action Fund and the Italian Embassy in the US. Sidney got her start on Capitol Hill where she served as a press intern for former Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) and as a communications intern for then-Senator, now Vice President, Kamala D. Harris (D-CA). Sidney is a graduate of Howard University where she earned a B.A. in Strategic, Legal, and Management Communications with a Minor in Political Science.
