Working with the Applied Anthropology Lab, I am assisting in the identifications and research associated with a Late Archaic faunal assemblage from northern Ohio. I separate faunal specimens by taxon when applicable and note any modifications that could indicate abiotic and and biotic factors affecting the bone such as erosion, digestion, burning, and cutmarks.

Funded by The Historic Preservation Fund, I will be writing the site report for Wilbur Wright Fish and Wildlife Area. Over the summer. myself and other students preformed phase one survey at this site and obtained prehistoric and historic artifacts. I will manage two students who will clean and catalog artifacts for curation while I prepare the site report and present our results to the public.

Position involving exposure to various archaeological excavation types including pedestrian survey, phase 1 excavation, Ground Penetrating Radar, and metal detecting. This job involves working in various Midwestern environments such as agricultural fields, forests, and wooded areas. Current projects involve the American Battlefield Protection Program for the Battle of Peckuwe, Historic Preservation Fund for Wilbur Wright Fishing and Wildlife Area, Historic Preservation Fund for Versailles State Park, and the Historic Preservation Fund for Summit Lake.

For this National Science Foundation Grant I was in charge of mapping out archaeological sites identified by private collectors based on their personal collections of lithic artifacts. To do this, I used ArcMap software. I also managed three undergraduate students that helped to get this project to the public. By this, I mean they edited 2D and 3D models to be prepared and uploaded to Sketchfab.com for public use. The goal of this project was to show that archaeologists need to connect with private collectors to gain knowledge on otherwise inaccessible sites.
